The Center for Ignatian Spirituality – CIS Vietnam (CISVN) is honored to be entrusted by Bishop Joseph Đỗ Mạnh Hùng to accompany the ongoing formation program for the priests of the Diocese of Phan Thiết for three consecutive years (2025–2027) under the theme “Pastoral Leadership in a Synodal Church.”
As part of the 2026 formation program, Fr. John Baptist Nguyễn Trung Kiên, SJ, representing CISVN, facilitated a session on “Pastoral Discernment,” an essential dimension of priestly ministry in today’s Church. Through reflections, dialogue, and practical applications, the participating priests were invited to deepen their understanding of discernment as a way of listening attentively to the Holy Spirit and responding more faithfully to the pastoral needs of God’s people.
The formation session unfolded in an atmosphere of openness, mutual listening, and fraternal sharing. It provided a valuable opportunity for the priests to reflect together on their pastoral experiences and to explore how discernment can guide decision-making and ministry within a synodal Church.
We pray that the fruits of this gathering will continue to strengthen the pastoral mission of the priests and contribute to the growth of a culture of synodality throughout the Diocese of Phan Thiết.
