In response to the synodal spirit of the universal Church and drawing on ongoing exchanges with Catholic leaders in Vietnam, CIS Vietnam has launched the program “Pastoral Leadership in a Synodal Church.” The program explores and integrates the most effective contemporary leadership models with the living tradition of the Second Vatican Council and the spirituality of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, aiming to foster a style of leadership that is both deeply rooted in spirituality and closely attuned to today’s pastoral needs.
Each leadership model may respond to different social, economic, and cultural contexts. During the pontificate of Pope Francis, synodality has been reintroduced as a way of life and a mode of leadership for the entire People of God. The program invites all members of the People of God to participate actively in the Church’s mission of leadership, while providing both theoretical foundations and concrete practice—two essential components for governing the Church in the twenty-first century.
