On October 21, 2026, the Center for Ignatian Spirituality (CIS) warmly welcomed Bishop Joseph Đỗ Mạnh Hùng, Bishop of Phan Thiet Diocese and Secretary General of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam, for a pastoral visit and sharing session with CIS staff and 51 participants from the Center’s two formation programs for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Under the theme “The Spirituality of Synodality in the Ministries of Spiritual Accompaniment and Formation,” Bishop Hùng presented two topics: “Walking Together on the Way of Jesus” and “Spiritual Companions and Formators on the Way of Jesus.” Through these reflections, he invited participants to deepen their understanding of synodality and discover practical ways to live out their ministries of spiritual accompaniment and formation in the Church today.
Both at the beginning and at the conclusion of his sharing, Bishop Hùng affirmed that the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam highly appreciates the formation programs offered by CIS. He acknowledged that the Center is effectively responding to the needs and expectations of the Church in Vietnam while bearing abundant spiritual fruit for the various members of the People of God.
Bishop Hùng also expressed his understanding of the difficulties and challenges currently facing the Center. He warmly encouraged CIS to remain confident, persevering, and courageous in carrying out its mission, emphasizing that this is precisely the path the Church is calling us to walk together.
